To see right now at the Musée de l'Orangerie

Until January 27th, 2020, the Musée de l’Orangerie pays tribute to Félix Fénéon via an exhibition entitled Modern Times; from Seurat to Matisse. The journalist and art critic, who was born in Italy in 1861 and died in the Paris region in 1944, was also a great collector. The exhibition dedicated to this unusual character features an exceptional selection of paintings and drawings by great masters such as Degas, Matisse, Severini, Modigliani, Seurat and Signac, as well as sculptures from Africa and Oceania.

Upcoming exhibitions in 2020

From April 1st to July 13th, 2020, the Orangerie presents Giorgio de Chirico; Metaphysical Painting, an exhibition inviting you to discover the artists and philosophical trends that influenced the style and thought of the Greek-born Italian painter and sculptor. As a student of Munich’s Academy of Fine Arts, he discovered the works of Nietzsche and Schopenhauer and later, in Paris, received the support of Guillaume Apollinaire, who helped him to promote his work.

From October 7th, 2020 to January 25th, 2021, Soutine / De Kooning showcases the talent of the Dutch-American abstract expressionist painter Willem de Kooning and his fascination for the work of the Russian-French artist Chaim Soutine, creating a dialogue between the worlds of the two creators.
