For several weeks, Paris has been largely free of motor traffic. However, even before the current situation, the capital was developing a bicycle-friendly policy. In keeping with this, the City of Paris has transformed one of its most elegant avenues into a cycle route. The Rue de Rivoli now belongs to cyclists, so why not take advantage of it?

The joys of cycling along the Rue de Rivoli

Imagine an arrow-straight 3km thoroughfare starting a few streets from the Place des Vosges, in the fascinating 4th arrondissement, and leading to the majestic Place de la Concorde. Bordered by elegant arcades that maintain a single façade and house some of the world’s most prestigious brands, it runs alongside the Hôtel de Ville, the Saint-Jacques Tower, the Louvre and the Jardins des Tuileries. From the saddle, you can enjoy a fine overview of several major Parisian landmarks.

A bike ride on the Rue de Rivoli: Paris is yours!

The Rue de Rivoli is an essential axis of the Right Bank. By making it bicycle traffic only, the City of Paris has simplified pedal-powered travel between the main tourist and shopping districts and made it safer. Go shopping on the Champs-Élysées, visit an exhibition at the Grand Palais or the Louvre, discover the trendy concept shops in the Marais, have a drink in the trendy bars of Bastille; all this is just a few minutes by bike from your Hotel du Continent.
